Yours truly spent a couple of days in the State Criminal Investigation Department,Panti Yaba on trump up charges of Obtaining By Tricks (OBT) in police parlance over a bad debt,trust me it was an eye opener of all sorts. A lot of people are been dumped in that hell's gate on different charges and a lot of them are innocently wasting their lives away there because they have no one to help them sort out the issues outside,no money to settle the police officers involved who know very well that most of these guys are innocent.criminals who would naturally fit into psychiatric homes to check their mental state first before been confined awaiting trial are dumped with innocent and helpless Nigerians.A lot of what we hear of on social media and Television and sounds like a movie script,police officers detained but living a luxury inside the confines of the police cell and running a successful business inside the police cell so much that some don't want to leave after been acquitted of any allegations.
The issue of over crowding in Nigerian Police cells and Prisons continues to take center stage each time prison/police cell reforms is mentioned as yours truly was thrown into a cell meant for about 40 people max but had a total of 105 inmates on the first night and reduced or increased daily depending on how many people were released or detained.compiling daily experience and will write them daily for your guys.In journalism its called eye witness account but i call it experience like no other.
